Oiled Wildlife Training


The Oiled Wildlife Society and the Wildlife Rehabilitators’ Network of BC host Oiled Wildlife First Responder training courses. This basic session has taken place in various locations across BC since 2012.  Course modules cover:

  • Overview of the Incident Command System and the role of First Responders
  • Overview of the agencies involved in dealing with an oil spill
  • First Responder health and safety
  • Capture procedures for oiled wildlife
  • Transportation protocols
  • Wildlife handling techniques
  • Temporary housing options for oiled wildlife
  • Critical animal care and stabilization during the first 48 hours in captivity

If you wish to attend this training, please contact the Oiled Wildlife Society of BC to be placed on the notification list.  Registration will be by priority invitation, as seating is limited.

Invited participants will be emailed a password and invited to register online.
